Strong Karate Sprit Showed Its Genuine Concern

Mt. SAKURA-jima's erupted in 1914. The photo reminds us of the recent triple disaster-earthquake, tsunami and nuclear in Tohoku areas of Japan

The city of Kagoshima has a population of 555,000 ( In 2004 ) who live at a short distance from Mt.Sakuka-jima. More amazingly, 4,700 people live in the town of Sakura -jima Cho at the foot of the volcano. Sakura-jima Cho is situated at a distance of only 3.8 kilometers from Kagoshima city.

Kagoshima city has been damaged by the Sakura-jima's eruption many times in  history, and it will be covered white with volcanic ash sometimes, but it has never been buried under ash like Pompeii in Italy. Mt.Sakura -jima has been always the symbol of Satsuma ( Kagoshima ), and has forged People of Fire who have been always courageous and fearless warriors called " Satsuma Hayato " from ancient times.

The Satsuma-jin (Satsuma people) have the ancenstral discipline and virtues of the true samurai even now.

Living with natural disasters, hopefully, should not be our way of living. But to do the best we can do in the given trial moments, maintaining dignity, help the less fortunate, and overcome our problems in a challenging period, should be our attitude and way of living.

Many Shihankai members and friends showed compassion in the recent Japanese disaster. Shihankai received donation and it was given to the Red Cross.
